According To A Story Issued By The Associate Press, Weight Gain, Fatigue And Cravings In Women May Be More Than Just Getting Older
For women, excess weight in the mid-section, frequent fatigue and carbohydrate cravings may be the warning signs of something more serious. A new survey commissioned by the National Women’s Health Resource Center (NWHRC) showed that 75 percent of women ages 40-65 who had not been diagnosed with, but had a family history of diabetes or heart disease reported that they experienced these symptoms. However, nearly one-third (32%) of all respondents did not know they were signs of impaired insulin function, which causes high blood sugar levels and ultimately increases the risk for type 2 diabetes and heart disease.

FDA Grants OTC Status To Plan B Emergency Contraceptive
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the Supplemental New Drug Application (sNDA) filed by Barr Pharmaceuticals, Inc.'s wholly-owned subsidiary, Duramed Pharmaceuticals, Inc., to market the Plan B (levonorgestrel) emergency contraceptive Over-The-Counter (OTC) without a prescription for consumers 18 years of age and older, while maintaining the prescription status for women17 and younger. The Company's Plan B OTC product and the prescription product will be in the same package, which will allow for a prescription label to be adhered to the package dispensed to women age 17 and younger.
